Roundtable
The Board commented that the young people we recognized this evening were wonderful examples of the opportunities we create at Parkland, whether in athletics, the arts or academics, and everyone enjoyed hearing about the students. The parents were so grateful for the opportunity given to their children. Mr. Reyburn reiterated that parent involvement and support is just as important as the opportunities offered at school. Ms. Adams commented that the entire community is so proud of Alyssa for her recognition as an artist. She also mentioned that the PSBA legislative action workshop in Harrisburg was wonderful.
Attorney Steve Miller complemented everyone for their presentations and gave Roberta a nod for writing a monthly column in PSBA magazine this whole school year.
Ms. Adams spoke of the Peers Assisted Learning Support Club which made a presentation at this month's Community Advisory Council meeting, noting that it is a wonderful club at PHS that provide mentors to students with special needs. The founder of that club will be inducted into the Parkland Alumni Wall of Honor at this year's Foundation Gala on May 4th. His name is Jason Toff and he graduated in 2004. Karen Aulisio, principal of Kratzer Elementary, was thanked for her words about what the mission statement means to her at the beginning of the meeting. Mr. Hein said he enjoyed the PHS spring musical and congratulated the cast and crew for a great show.
Mrs. Marcus announced that a Basic Ed Funding Forum will occur at Penn State Lehigh Valley tomorrow night. Rich Sniscak will be on the panel along with other school leaders.
