Relentless
Our job is not easy.
We have students that come to us everyday, having many needs, and often do not express their needs in appropriate or functional ways. They often have unmet emotional needs, unmet nutritional diets, and often have gaps in their learning. We know, if their emotional and physical needs are unmet, it makes meeting their academic needs very challenging.
We know how students are coming into our doors; and we have a choice, we can either be reactive or proactive. Dallas ISD has taken a proactive approach by providing Breakfast in the Classroom and becoming a Title 1 District to give all students free lunch. For the emotional needs ... Please take some time, and talk with your teams, PLCs, coworkers, admin team, and any other source you can find ... how can we feed the emotional needs of our students. Often, the most challenging students are the ones who need emotional uplifting the most. We know how they will act unfed, lets be relentless in our mission to have students thrive.
Onward!
If you didn't catch it last week ... check out our Superstar on Dallas ISD's Hub video!

9th Week in Review
Everyday last week brought us an Adventure!!
We had Red Ribbon Week!! We got to see Teams, Socks, Boots, and the staff and students coming together everyday to put a stop to drug use!! Thank you Runnels for coordinating this whole week!
Once Upon a Time - the students got to enjoy teachers and staff in a more personal and relating way. Teachers were able to connect with multiple grade levels and students got to see the staff as a unit!
Haunted Hallway. Just wow!! What a thrill for students ... and staff. Many students of ours will never get to see a Haunted House due to cost, distance, etc. This earned privilege gave them a memory that will last!! I can not thank our TAs, volunteers, and staff who put this whole thing together, ran the hallway, and made this happen for our kids!!
Earlier in the week, we got to host Deputy Chief of School Leadership, Brian Lusk, and our feeder pattern Executive Director, Clarita Rivera, for a campus instructional walk-through. Mr. Lusk got to see our students, experience the teaching in the classroom, interact with students learning, and see the evidence of previous learning on the walls and hallways. The visit went well!!
Thank you for reinforcing behavior expectations to our students and staying energized to keep those expectations in place!
After the 2nd Common Assessment is completed, we are looking forward to updating the Data Wall in our Main Hallway to show the excellent work and acceleration our kids are making. They depend on us.
Teacher Shout Outs!!
As we have had multiple visitors to our campus the past week, a Campus Shout Out goes to Mrs. Guerrero, her classroom was filled with examples of quality student work, organization, and data!!
Another Shout Out goes to Mr. Adams and Ms. Arnal, they are not only advocates of the Home Visit Project, they also take structured time to teach Mindfullness in the classroom!!
These connections and understandings pay dividends in the student achievement!
And a HUGE Thank You to our TAs and ALL of the staff who volunteered countless hours to setup and run our Haunted Hallway!! I have never seen anything like this on a campus, the students had an AMAZING Time, and parents have expressed how much they appreciated staff giving back to students, showing them fun at school, and giving them experiences they otherwise would not be able to have.
They loved it!!
