Hardware - computer componets
and the History of computers
Introduction
I am going to discuss about computer hardware and the History of computing. In this blog it will include images, videos and detailed info. The things I will include are Drivers, monitors, cpu's , ram/rom, mother boards, Inputs/out puts and Touch screens.
Computer Drive
A drive computers a device that reads data from and often writes data on to a flash memory (a storage device).
Computer Hardware
The machines wiring, and other components of a computer or an electronic system.
Monitor
Display made by a device that can be sent to and displayed on a television or computer, the screen of something.
Inputs/outputs
Every transfer is an output from one device and is an input to another. Cd's, keyboards and others are input devices and printers and headphones and others are output devices.
Touch Screens
Use a device by touching areas on the screen. You can get touch screen tablets, phones, computers and much more even if they have a keyboard and a mouse.
Computers
All of these are to do with computers and the explanation and pictures are there to help you understand what each part does.
Cpu
This is basically the brains of the computer and does all of the calculations. (The central processor)
RAM/ROM
A computer memory that can be accessed randomly.
Motherboard
The main printed circuit board of a computer.
Computer Basics: Hardware
the first generation of computers
Colossus is the worlds first electronic computer , launched in 1944. Could store a large amount of information. Initially in the first generation computer the vaccum tubes were used, had very less work efficiency so couldn't work properly and required a large cooling system.
second generation of computers
Elliot 803: Transistors were used instead of vaccum tubes. Transistors were much more smaller than vaccums. The size of the computer got smaller than the earlier generation.
third generation of computer
Integrated circuits was the third generation technology. The main advantage of the IC was not just the size but the performance and reliability than the previous circuits. First developed by T.S Kilby. This computer has huge storage capacity.
Fourth generation of computers
BBC Micro was launched in 1981. The computers which we see around us are the fourth generation of computers. Ted Hoff of USA developed the first micro processor, the Intel 4004. The size of the computer is small and has become very fast and efficient.
Alan Mathison Turing
He was a British pioneering computer scientist, mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, philosopher and biologist.
Born: June 23,London, 1912
Died: June 7, Wilmslow,1954
Tim Berners-Lee
An English computer scientist, best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web.
