Warroad Early Learning Center
The Warroad Early Learning Center was accepted as a new Classroom Engagement Model team for the 2023-24 year. This team has been implementing the Pyramid Model Innovation for the past 5 years.
"CEM is a natural building block from the Pyramid Model strategies which are in place throughout our Early Learners' Center. The engagement factor has become an intentional focus area for educators who find students' skill development occurring through independent voice and choice activities, social relationships, and rich learning experiences." ~Brita Comstock, Warroad Elementary and Early Learners' Center Principal
The team has completed 3 of 5 trainings to learn the content and strategies of the Classroom Engagement Model.
The Classroom Engagement Model is a systematic approach to high quality inclusion, using research–based teaching practices that increase engagement and full participation of every child. Increased engagement leads to more learning, increased skill acquisition, and better outcomes for children.
If you would like to learn more about engaging young children in learning, you can check out the book, Engagement of Every Child in the Preschool Classroom by R. A. McWilliam and Amy M. Casey.

Center for Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (CECMH) Temperament Traits
Temperament is an important feature of social and emotional health. Temperament describes the way we approach and react to the world. It is our own personal “style” that is present from birth.
Each caregiver and parent is also unique in his or her own temperament. The compatibility between adult-child temperaments can affect the quality of relationships.
Learn more about the temperament of infants and toddlers here:
The Infant Toddler Temperament Tool includes a short online survey that allows parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers to recognize and explore their own temperament traits and those of a child for which they provide care. The IT3 generates results which support parents and caregivers in understanding how adult and child similarities and differences in temperament traits may affect “goodness of fit.” Along with these results, the IT3 generates simple best practice tips adults can use to foster the unique temperament of each child within their care.
