Weekly Update

Dear Mason Ridge Families,
On Monday's morning announcements, I made an analogy with our students about how the last few weeks of school are kind of like the end of a family road trip. Many of us are a little bit more tired than usual, and our patience isn't as strong at the beginning of the year. I am proud to say that even with the extra exhaustion and getting ready for a big summer break, our students have worked very hard this week to continue to learn as much as possible.
On Friday, our students will have the opportunity to participate in our All-School Carnival! Thank you so much in advance to our parents that have signed up to be a volunteer at this beloved school event! I know you will enjoy getting to hear all of the laughter and seeing all of the smiles. I do have a little principal parent tip for the School Carnival! You might want to remind your child that riding on the spinning rides several times in a row can result in an upset stomach.
The last time that I wrote to you, I shared that I didn't know where my son would be heading the next four years of college. I am excited to share that he will be attending Indiana University - Jacobs School of Music. He is super excited to become a Hoosier. All of you IU alums are going to have to share with me your best IU tips to pass along with him. The photo is of all of us at his graduation last Saturday. Time sure flies!
Our final newsletter of the year will be on Sunday, June 4, 2023. I will send out a mid-summer newsletter sometime in July, and then our weekly newsletters will start back up in early August. Don't forget that our Mason Ridge website has our calendar and newsletter archives that are always available to you.
I'm looking forward to spending some celebration time with many of you before the end of the year! Whether it is Carnival, 5th grade Celebration, or Kindergarten Celebration, we will have so much to celebrate!
Thank you,
Jenn

PTO Updates
We Need Your Vote!
Thursday, 5/25 @ 5:45 pm – PTO Special Membership Meeting – Zoom
Mason Ridge & district K-5 teachers have been invited to participate in a reading program pilot that will potentially be used for years to come under our reading program revision. Our 3rd-grade team applied to be part of the pilot program, but were not selected. The team has a great passion for reading instruction, and they were really hopeful to be part of the initial pilot group. After reaching out to the district literacy coordinator, it was determined that the 3rd-grade team could participate if the cost of $6900 was covered by Mason Ridge. Dr D has asked the PTO to contribute $5900 toward the cost. According to the PTO bylaws, since this is a non-budgeted item, the PTO membership must vote to approve the contribution.
Please attend the PTO Special Membership meeting on Thursday, 5/25 @ 5:45 p.m. via Zoom to learn more and vote.
