Basketball Jones

A wonderful assembly with Basketball Jones today! He had very cool tricks and taught us about showing kindness to everyone. We all know the "golden" rule but ask your child about the "platinum" rule!

**The student council Toy Drive will be next week, February 10-14. They are asking that students bring new, unwrapped toys to donate.

** Our mid-year NWEA testing will be finishing on Monday. We will take the language arts portion at 2:00 that day.

**Friday Spirit Day: wear pink or red to celebrate your compassionate heart

**Wanted: More mystery readers! Call the family or anyone who would want to come and read or share a fun skill with our class! The students love when we have visitors. Thank you to those of you who have already been to visit us too!

What Are We Up To In Room 115?

Continuing our work in geometry. We will be looking at properties and angles in shapes and where we find these in our world.

Students will have a quiz on Tuesday. They should have brought a study guide home this weekend to prepare!

Continuing with nonfiction. Students will be reading a variety of nonfiction texts during our reading block and learning how to respond to these texts. We will also be looking at the structures of nonfiction texts and how authors can use it to persuade us or make us feel a certain way.

Word Work

New words again this week!

Don't forget to ask your student what their new words are and what they're working on this week. :)

We will begin working on our project, researching and writing about the state of Indiana and how tourism affects the economy. Students will be researching different regions and working in groups to highlight the best parts of their regions.

This week students will continue to research the areas of tourism that are important in each region and the students will create questions they want answered and assign roles for each group member.

We are beginning a new unit about Heat and Electricity. We are excited to be done with testing so we can start experimenting!
