Child Nutrition Free Meals Announcement
Northside ISD Announces -Free Breakfast & Lunch Starting September 14, 2020
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has recently approved Free Breakfast & Lunch to enrolled Northside ISD students for In-Person Learning and Virtual Learning. Free Breakfast & Lunch will also be served at our 65 grab-n-go meal locations for community children 18 and younger and do not need to be enrolled at Northside ISD. The USDA Free Meal Program is until December 31, 2020.
For parents/legal guardians picking up meals without a child, at our grab-n-go meal locations, must present one of the following, for identification purposes:
1. Official letter / email from school listing of children enrolled
2. Report cards
3. Attendance records
4. Birth certificates
5. Student ID cards
No copies needed, just present one of the above identifications per child and meals will be provided.
Note: USDA reserves the right to withdraw this approval subject to the availability of funding.
Immunizations Are Still a State Requirement!
ALL 7th graders are required by state law to have two additional immunizations. A tetanus booster(Tdap) and meningitis(MCV4).
Rudder has over 200 7th graders that need these shots or an updated shot record. Please contact our nurse Sabrena Schmelter at (210) 397-5009 or via email sabrena.schmelter@nisd.net. Updated shot records can me emailed or contact the nurse for other arrangements.

How Does My Student Get Attendance Credit in Virtual Learning?
Present Remote Asynchronous (RA): A student must be marked Present Remote Asynchronous once they ENGAGE with the coursework for that same day through any one or more of the following measures:
Teacher/student interactions that same day (includes synchronous learning during scheduled times)
OR
Completion and submission of an assignment or task by the student on that same day (until 11:59 p.m.)
OR
Demonstration of progress that same day (as determined in Schoology)
Note: Merely logging in to Schoology does not reflect engagement.

504, SE, and Other Important Meetings
Please pay attention to email, as some 504 documents have been sent out for virtual signing for students with asthma and allergies only.
If you would like to have a parent teacher meeting with your child's teachers at any time during the year, you will need to call the campus at 210-397-5000 and ask for the grade level counselor to set up that appointment.
