Updates in this communication include:
- COVID-19 Update - Presentation Slides from Board Meeting
- Phase 3 Update
Dear Families,
It is with optimism and hope that we send today’s message. After such a challenging January, this week we saw consecutive days of case rates trending in a positive direction. We know we are all fatigued by the impacts of the purple surge we have experienced. On Tuesday night, as part of our monthly COVID-19 update, the Board of Trustees received information regarding the latest California Department of Public Health Consolidated Guidance for Schools Reopening as well as updates on how that guidance impacts our schools. The Board of Trustees has also heard from families, community members and staff members regarding their concerns and hopes for school reopening expansion. Our focus continues to be to return students to a 5 day per week program in the safest way possible.
Although the most recent guidance has required us to once again make changes to some classroom placements, class sizes, furniture and classroom locations, the overall plan to move forward with our 5 day return when San Diego County returns to the Red Tier continues at this time. We are continuing to work with our teams and sites to consider all possibilities for the soonest, safest return for 5 days per week. In order to provide families with as much information as possible including answers to questions received, please find the following pdf. of the slides presented at the meeting.
Our fastest way to return is dependent on the actions of all us at home and in the community. Please continue to be vigilant with home symptoms screenings, quarantine guidance, masking, distancing and hygiene protocols.
Warmly,
Andrée Grey, Ed.D.
