Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 1st December 2017
Autumn Exhibition
Thank you to all of the parents who visited our Autumn Exhibition yesterday.
The Exhibition showcased the project based learning our children have been focusing on all term:
- Year 6 made websites.
Year 5 published a book.
Year 3 and 4 changed their classrooms into living museums.
Year 2 screened an animated film.
Year 1 produced a nature trail.
An art exhibition was displayed in the corridor.
Thank you to Laura in the kitchen for providing delicious tasters from the school menu and to the governors for providing tea and coffee.
Year 5 have published a book about Lindisfarne which is available to purchase.
Follow this link to see the book or even buy yourself a copy.
The children were really proud of their work and excited to share their learning. We would really welcome your feedback. If you came to the Exhibition please complete the short survey below.
Our Advent Project starts now
Advent is a time of preparing for Christmas by buying presents, decorating our houses and getting ready for all manner of celebrations. However, our children are learning that advent is also a time of waiting and patience leading up to Christmas, a time to prepare our hearts for the real meaning of the Christmas season.
So our Advent project this year is about giving. We need your help with donations of tin cans which the children will use to build a Christmas tree. Please donate what you can, it could be baked beans, pulses, soup, vegetables but preferably standard size 400g size. Our aim is to have it built and decorated by the end of term.
At the end of term all of the cans will be donated to our local food bank.
Childcare over Christmas
Children do not return to school after the Christmas break until January 8th, after most working parents have had to return to work. Miss Dumbreck has already started planning a fun start to the new year at Oscar's as we will be open from 3rd -5th January. Make sure you book your places in advance.
