Keep up the Reading!!!!
With summer in full swing, let your adventures soar through reading! Ms. Brown sent some wonderful resources and information home with students in their report card envelopes. At this mid-summer point, here's a refresher of what she shared--
Summer Reading Resources (sent home in green folders) -

Dear Claxton Families,
This summer I hope that our students have a chance to relax, to play with friends, to have fun with family and to READ A LOT! We have loads of research pointing to the importance of summer reading for maintaining or improving reading skills. Study after study shows us that when students continue to read over the summer and/or are involved in summer library programs they return to school with a “positive attitude about reading, are more confident in the classroom, read beyond what is required, and perceive reading as important.” (Fiore & Roman, 2010). Additionally, we know that the more students read the better readers they become.
We are lucky to live in a town with thriving free summer library programs at each of our 13 branches. Please find the attached reading lists and suggestions for summer reading programs, including the Pack Memorial Library summer reading program schedule and information on the Zoom program which gets library card holders into area attractions for free.
Enjoy your summer, Claxton families, and remember to READ, READ, READ!
With bounding book love,
Amy Brown

Field Day SUCCESS!
Claxton's June Field Day was fantastic! Big thanks to Coach Swain and our incredible team of volunteers who contributed to this year's event! We could not have done it without your help and support!!!
Claxton Spirit Night
Remember to Collect Your Box Tops this Summer to Support Physical Education at Claxton!
Please save your Boxtops for Education throughout the summer and bring them in when you return to school in August. You can place them in the bear container outside of the main office or in the gym. This will help us "kick off" the school year by providing funds for Coach Swain to buy new balls and other needed equipment for our P.E. program! Thank you! Click here for a list of participating products.
