BHMS Principal's Update 10/19/20
Synchronous Instruction , 3Bs, Clubs & Academic Support
This is a big week as the district embarks on live synchronous instruction. Please remember your children should log into class/Schoology each day period by period. This is an exciting time as it enhances the engagement with teacher and students and promotes more contact time. Please be aware that teachers are still available on Wednesdays and from 1:45 to 3pm daily to support your child and any questions they may have. We are happy to see the district moving in this direction. While this is a great step, please know that this is our first experience doing this and we will still have some stumbling along the way. Please continue to be patient with us as we work with you, your children, and do our best.
Sincerely,
Mike D'Ostilio, Principal

Keeping Up with What is Going on at the Hill!!!
The week of October 19 will be a pivotal week as we require students in grades 6 through 12 to follow their schedules and attend live sessions with their teachers. Teachers will take attendance at these sessions and enter attendance codes into PowerSchool. The following codes will be used:
Face-to-Face
A (absent)
CP (cohort present)
Remote
DLP (distance learning present)
A (distance learning absent)
VERY, VERY IMPORTANT
It is still critical that students log into Schoology every school day and open each class for each day. The link to enter the live session will be posted in that class. Students that are working remotely will not be required to enter the virtual study hall or lunch.
We believe this new protocol will encourage students to increase their level of engagement daily and participating in a live session on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will be easy to verify for attendance purposes. We hope this measure will motivate students to establish a consistent pattern of attendance that will have a positive impact on learning.
