The Mata Memo
November 2, 2021
Greetings Mata Families!
Happy November! Today, in many Latin American countries, Dia de Muertos/Day of the Dead is being celebrated. The Day of the Dead originated several thousand years ago with the Aztec, Toltec, and other Nahua people. The dead were still members of the community, kept alive in memory and spirit. Students in some of our classes worked on cultural projects and learned about this celebration. Check out the pictures below.
Please remember that Friday, November 5th is Picture Day. Forms were sent home with students last week. You may order online at logansphotography.com code EDM22. If you do order online, please bring your confirmation number to school. Also, only the correct change will be accepted for payment.
Additionally, if you know someone who is interested or if your child has a sibling that wants to attend Mata Montessori, the application window is open! Please tell them to apply. You may contact the main office if you have any questions.

Digging for Fossils
The middle school students are hosting a food drive from October 18 until November 17th and we need your help! Our goal is to collect 2,000 pounds of canned goods to donate to the North Texas Food Bank. The most needed items are cans of peanut butter, tuna fish, canned fruit, shelf-stable milk, canned chicken, and canned vegetables. So please donate what you can! Donation boxes will be located by the cafeteria, library, office, and middle school.

Dallas ISD Updates for Campus Visitors
While Dallas County is in Level Red, campus visitors and volunteers will not be allowed. We will use virtual meeting options to limit campus visitors. All visitors who enter the building will be required to wear a face covering and those who proceed beyond the reception area will follow specific guidelines for visitors.
Visitor Screening/PPE Requirements
Please self- screen before entering any Dallas ISD facility. If visitors have COVID-19 symptoms, or are lab confirmed with COVID-19, they must notify the campus and remain off campus until they meet the criteria for re-entry.
All individuals entering the building will be required to wear face masks.
Visitors will stand behind the shield guard installed at reception desks or recommended 6 feet distance.
Any individuals permitted to proceed beyond the reception area must follow all safety and campus protocols.
