A Message from Proud Principal, Laura Clark
Parent involvement is not just volunteering in your child's classroom. That's one way to help-but research shows that supporting your child's education at home is even more important. Take it from me, the working mom, I do not have time to volunteer at my child's school. Instead, parents can look at completed work, read weekly newsletters, and look over their child's homework to check their understanding.
Each night when my kiddos came home from school, I would ask them specific questions like, "What did you do as a reader, or writer, today at school?", "What did you learn in Social Studies/Science? Is there anything you would like to know more about?", and "How were you helpful today? How was someone kind or helpful to you?". These questions require your child to give more specific information. If I asked, "How was you day at school?", I would get, "Fine" and as a working mom I wanted to hear more about their day than just "fine". When we talk about school at home, it shows our child how much we value his/her education.
Our students in grades 1-5 are finishing up their 9 week Interim District Assessments. These assessments are so important because they allow us to see if each student is gaining proficiency of the grade level AKS/standards. Our teachers will begin analyzing their classroom assessment data to see which students need more opportunities for teaching/learning of specific standards. It will also allow them to see which standards have been mastered. Be sure to take a look at your child's grades in the portal in the next week because teachers will be entering the District Assessment grades. If you have any questions, reach out to your child's teacher and they will be happy to answer any questions.
Don't forget next week is Red Ribbon Week where we will be celebrating healthy choices and drug prevention. Each day has a fun theme for our students to get involved in.
Thank you for all you do to make our school the BEST!
Proud to be your Principal,
Mrs. Clark

New! RBES Parent Survey in Parent Portal
Yes, this is the second parent survey this year. This survey is very important and we need you!
Great things are happening at Parsons. This survey gives us the opportunity to show our Parsons Pride and share our perception of all the wonderful things our school community is doing for our students. Our school success is evidence of the power collaboration among stakeholders...because we ALL work together, Parsons' students are 'Achieving and Believing'!
Each year, GCPS gives parents the opportunity to complete a survey about their child's school. This survey is available through the parent portal. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by November 22, 2019. The results are utilized as part of our school evaluation at the county level and we appreciate your input. If you do not have access to the parent portal, you can come to the school and complete the survey by picking up a paper copy in the front office. Thank you in advance for completing this important task. Please visit the parent portal to begin the survey.
