Lovett Notes
A Newsletter for Lovett Staff
Welcome Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am hoping that that summer has been restful and full of fun. School is just around the corner and I’m excited for another great year at Lovett. When I think about Lovett, the word collaboration always comes to mind. It’s how we are able to accomplish amazing things and it’s also how we make working together fun!
Soooo...let's have a little collaborative fun! As a first week back challenge, we are looking for the team or department that shows the most team spirit. At the end of the first week of pre-service you will all get to vote for the team that you feel has shown the most spirit through the week. When all votes are in the winning team will be able to select a prize. I can't wait to see your high energy and your creativity!
CONNECTING WITH ALL STUDENTS...You are thier champion!
ACCESS TO CLASSROOMS
First, I would like to thank our facilities team for their hard work in preparing our building. As you arrive for pre-service they will still be working completing final things. I would also like to give a shout out to Carlos Trejo and the Perez family for supporting our facilities staff with managing the workload this summer. Please adhere to the following schedule for early access to classrooms:
New to Lovett Staff only: Thursday, August 8th 9:00-3:00
All Staff: Friday, August 9th 9:00-3:00
Saturday, August 10th 9:00-2:00
A few reminders when you come to the building:
- Keys will not be issued until Monday, August 12th
- Your key cards are not working yet, so you will need to enter through the main office
- Please do not drag items across the floors
- Do not pull facilities staff from their regular duties to assist in classrooms.
- If you have trash at the end of the day, it should be placed outside your classroom door
- No furniture should be moved from classroom to classroom without administrative approval
- Do not remove items from your classroom to store in other locations of the school. If you don't want it in your room, you must reach out to a teammate to find a home for it. If no one wants it...it's yours.
- We are unable to fill supply request next week
- Instructional Material should not be thrown away.
- If you are bringing your child with you on the 8th, 9th or 10th, please be sure that you are monitoring them at all times. Remember we are still working on the building and their maybe potential safety issues for children. Additionally we want to make sure we maintain the building in as pristine a condition as possible until students and families are back.
New Lovett Team Members
We have some phenomenal new staff members that have selected Lovett to share their talents with. This year we are welcoming the following to our team:

PRE-SERVICE TIDBITS
Below are a few remembers to help facilitate a smooth return to campus:
- Work hours for pre-service is 8:00-3:45
- Please be timely for all pre-service sessions & remain engaged in and the focused as you participate in sessions.
- A reminder that children are not allowed to attend pre-service with you. For those staff members with Lovett students(including outgoing 5th grade), we will once again provide a mini-camp. The cost of the camp is $10/day, 7:50-3:50 to allow time for drop off and pick-up. Please email Tane Sims for camp registration.
- I highly encourage you to complete your HISD Compliance Courses before pre-service. While some time will be provided in pre-service our schedule is very tight. If you have already completed your courses, time allotted for online courses maybe used to prepare your classroom.
- Classroom keys will be issued on the first day. All employees are expected to sign out their keys before the close of the school day.
- Signing in and out starts on August 12th. Please sign in and out as usual and remember to sign in at all sessions that you attend.
- If you have lost your HISD ID, this is the time to get a new ID printed. Remember when you report to other campuses for pre-service activities you are expected to wear your ID
