Spring ISD Technology Department and Jenkins Elementary
All students and staff will be required to wear a badge during school hours. Bus riders will be required to wear their Zpass while riding the school bus to and from school! This will be a district mandate for ID badges.
We will work on distributing these badges this week! Each child will have a badge with their name on it and will be expected to wear it daily. We will send more information as we get more updates! Check your email from Spring ISD Communication as well.
In the meantime, please start talking to your child about the importance of keeping their ID badges on at all times. Reiterate that they will not be allowed to wear anyone else's badge at any time. We will create additional protocols to help us maintain this mandate and provide a badge for every child.
Also, parents, when you are coming in for any school business, you must have a valid ID. We understand that we've known many of you for years! However, we must scan your IDs and anyone you send to pick up your child, to ensure that everyone is registered as a visitor, in case of an emergency or for school records and documentation.
Thank you in advance for your assistance with prepping your child about the daily IDs and your cooperation with having your ID, upon entry to the school.

GoGuardian Partnership
We are starting to get alerts from GoGuardian about inappropriate computer use from our scholars. It's imperative that we work together to supervise and monitor our students, while using devices. Take time to read the article below and discuss these safety tips with your children. Monitor your child's computer use! Many students are not engaged in Homework assignments, but we have noticed that their computer usage time averages between 2-4 hours a day. This tells us that students prefer online activities more than paper and pencil. However, let's ensure these online activities are appropriate and aligned to the standards our scholars are expected to know!

Department of Guidance & Counseling and Mental Health Implements Mindful Mondays
Due to the increased number of students experiencing anxiety, the Department of Guidance & Counseling and Mental Health is implementing Mindful Mondays. The Mindful and OHMazing® Strategies for Students and Teachers (MOSST) curriculum directly aligns with the district’s strategic priority of Well-Being, in which the goal is to increase the percentage of staff and students that report an improved feeling of physical, emotional, and digital safety.
Every Monday, all elementary campuses will replace Quaver SEL time with a mindfulness activity from the Mindful and OHMazing® Strategies for Students and Teachers (MOSST) curriculum. Campuses may add additional Yogiños Mindfulness implementation to any other part of their day as needed and as approved by the campus principal.
Campus counselors will receive an email each week with a research-based self-regulation tool to be implemented on Mondays. Counselors will collaborate with teachers to help implement.
