Ringing in 2023!
We hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. January is when we reestablish our routines and focus on accelerating learning. The GJM staff works hard every day and is committed to making a difference in the lives of our precious students. We are thankful for the opportunities to work with your children. Our students are the reasons we are here!
As we enter the next half of the year, we will continue to pursue our promise at the beginning of the year- to provide a safe and nurturing environment where students feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are. We want ALL of our students to continue to grow and be successful in their learning. We want ALL our young Osprey scholars to become all they can be. We want them to be successful through hard work, consistent attendance, perseverance, utilizing help from our faculty, and working diligently. We want this because these traits will build good habits that will carry them profitably throughout their educational path. We expect a great deal from our scholars because they can produce great results!
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. As always, we are here to help!
Cold Weather Reminders...
Outdoor recess is an important and valuable part of our students' day. Fresh air, exercise, and time spent outside afford students a break from the structure of the classroom. Most importantly, teachers agree students perform best at school when they have an opportunity for vigorous outdoor play, so we try to get them out whenever possible.
Please ensure your child dresses appropriately for the weather and is prepared to play outside. During winter, your child should wear a jacket, gloves or mittens, and a hat.
If you need a coat for your child, don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Betts (jbetts@lehsd.org) or Mrs. Close (sclose@lehsd.org).
School Attendance
- Please make every effort to have your student here and on time. The morning begins with morning meeting time which is an intentional time to build classroom community and teach social-emotional learning competencies and is followed by Fundations a word-study program where students learn critical foundational skills in reading, writing, and language standards.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Reminders
- Drop-off begins at 8:15 and the school doors close at 8:30 when our instructional time begins. If your child is dropped off after 8:30, you must sign them in at the front office.
Parent-Pick Up:
- Parent pick-up begins at 2:50.
- Carline #1 should begin at the crosswalk along the curb of the sidewalk and continue down the shoulder of Route 539. It is very important that cars exiting the front parking lot and making a left can clearly see oncoming traffic.
Thank you for following these procedures. They are in place for the safety of our students and staff.
