The PTO will provide a hot dog to all full day students and popsicles to each class. Lunch with a Loved One Family Picnic was well attended and families seemed to enjoy time together on a beautiful day! Feedback received was...picnic needs to be longer and reminders about parking! Any other feedback is welcome!
The First Grade Service Project for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation was a huge success! First graders raised $760.00. WOW! Thank you to all the families for the donations. All proceeds will go to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

From the Nurse: Medication Pick Up
From the Nurse: This is a friendly reminder for parents of students with medication/supplies in the health office. According to the school district’s medication procedure, parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for picking up any unused medication by the end of the school year. The building nurse will discard unused medication not picked up by the student’s last day of school. Please plan on picking up your child’s medication as close to your student’s last day of school as possible. The Health Office will be closed after June 7, 2021. Feel free to call if you have any questions. Thank you very much for your assistance! You can also contact the school nurse by email: jturnipseed@sd13.org.
To All Incoming 6th Grade Parents
The Illinois School Code requires that all students entering 6th Grade have the following upon entrance to school:
- A current physical exam recorded on the approved form signed by your physician with completed and signed parent section.
- A complete record of mandated immunizations. In addition, a Tdap and a MCV4 vaccine is mandated for 6th grade.
- A current 6th grader's mandated physical examination will also allow the student to participate in sports; another sports exam is not necessary.
- A current oral health exam recorded on the approved form and signed by your dentist.
- Mandated forms are included as part of the registration process; medical offices also have all the mandated forms.
Please be aware that physicians’ and dentists’ offices are very busy during the summer: be certain to book your appointment early!
IN ADDITION:
- The district's medication administration policy mandates that all medication to be administered at school requires a MD order. This includes over the counter medications, and students may not keep OTC meds in their backpacks or in their lockers. This is an important safety concern! Please review the policy included in the registration process. The required forms are available when you register your student.
- If your incoming 6th grader requires an inhaler, Epi-Pen, or any oral medication, please obtain the medication form and appropriate health care plan from your physician when your child has their exam.
- Please note that all PE excuses need to be sent to the Health Office, not the PE teacher. A parent may excuse a student from PE for 3 days.
- A current 6th grader's mandated physical examination will also allow the student to participate in sports; another sports exam is not necessary.
