CAMP READ-A-LOT OCTOBER 18 from 5:30 - 7PM

Join us on October 18 from 5:30 - 7PM for Camp Read-A-Lot. Travel from tent to tent to read a book or listen to someone read. Hot dog dinner will be provided by Three Bears Big Lake and Wendy's. Weather permitting some of the tents will be outside, in the gym and music room.

BOOK FAIR OCTOBER 22 - NOVEMBER 1

The Enchanted Forest Book Fair is coming October 22nd - November 1st! We will be open during the fall festival this year! If you are interested in volunteering any time during the fair please contact Mrs. Gamble in the library!

5th GRADE FUNDRAISER FOR HOMER TRIP

5th graders are selling Jazzy popcorn to help pay for their field trip in May to Homer until October 19th. Anyone interested in buying popcorn can contact their favorite 5th grader. If you don't know a 5th grader please contact a 5th grade teacher, who will add your order to a student in need of support. There are 8 different flavors of popcorn to choose from: caramel, extra butter, cheddar cheese, white cheddar, dill pickle, jalapeno cheddar, jalapeno ranch, and jazz fest. Each bag is $7 and 50% from each sale will go directly towards the student's trip, Thank you for your support!

PICTURE RETAKES & CLASS PHOTOS

October 25 will be Lifetouch picture retakes and class photos.

BOX TOPS

Box Top competition is going on. The winning grade level will get a prize! Keep clipping! Please remember to check the expiration dates on your box tops. Soup points are not the same as Box Tops, that program is no longer going, so please do not send those in. Thank you! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. BAND & CHOIR INFO

Upcoming Combined Choir Concert for Big Lake Elementary Choir at Houston Middle School Tuesday, October 23rd at 6:30pm. (there will be a field trip that day as well for a combined rehearsal at HMS). Choir students need to arrive at HMS dressed in their concert attire (any combination of black and white, no t-shirts, jeans, or sneakers) at 6:00pm.

PTO UPCOMING EVENTS:

October is a very busy month for the PTO! Stay in the know, follow us on Facebook Big Lake Elementary PTO.


Movie night is this Friday, October 12. We are showing Hotel Transylvania 3! Permission slips went home and they are due back in the office with $3 by the end of Thursday. Children need to be picked up at 5:30. The concession stand will be open for snacks.

Our winter gear drive is going on right now. It’s a good time to go through those closets and donate gently used winter items. There is a tote outside the front door for the donated items. The winter gear swap will take place October 18 during Camp Read-a-Lot!

Fall Festival is on Friday, October 26, from 6-8pm. We are taking candy donations now and will be looking for baked goodies closer to the event. 32 oz and larger bags will earn you 10 free tickets and smaller bags 5 tickets. Please put your child’s name and teacher on the bag!

Trunk or Treat is fast approaching! It will be on Halloween, October 31, from 5:30-7:30pm. It will be held at the Big Lake Lions Rec Center. More details soon!

Don’t forget about the Believe Fundraiser going on right now!! The funds raised go towards new equipment like microphones and risers for the Music Department.

Congratulations to our winners of the PTO Membership Drive!! Alexandra Moller and Chrissy Hardman won a $20 gift card from Three Bears!!

The next PTO meeting will be October 15, 4pm, in the library. Everyone is welcome!!

LOST & FOUND

Is your student missing a jacket or other item? Please check our Lost & Found, which is by the back entrance to the gym, for their misplaced items. With the cold weather in the morning and the nice temperatures at recess, students are taking them off and forgetting them.
