Finding Purpose
The Stephen R Covey The Community is a great website about the 7 habits. Below is a section I wanted to share with you. Feel free to also click the link below to read the whole article.
"What is a mission statement you ask? Personal mission statements based on correct principles are like a personal constitution, the basis for making major, life-directing decisions, the basis for making daily decisions in the midst of the circumstances and emotions that affect our lives."
"When we create a mission statement of our own and choose to live by it we can flow with changes. We don't need prejudgements or prejudices. We don't need to figure out everything else in life, to stereotype and categorize everything and everybody in order to accommodate reality."

This week we encourage you to draft your mission statement. Although it may change over time, we would like to offer you a chance to receive a nice copy of your personal mission statement. If you would like to take that opportunity, please fill out the form by November 23rd. mission statement form

Wellness by Katie Wright
What's the point? All competition aside, getting more movement in each day is very important to your health. We typically hear "be sure to exercise 30 minutes each day", but if you exercise 30 minutes each day then sit a majority of the rest of the day your health is still at risk. Why is it best to move more in general? When you sit for long periods of time without standing it means "fewer muscle contractions, which means the body becomes insulin resistant (less responsive to insulin), which means that fats and sugars hang around in our blood longer, leading to excess body fat and plaque build-up in our arteries." The goal should be to get up and move for a few minutes every 30 minutes. Doing this can lead to the following results, "blood sugar and insulin sensitivity improve, cholesterol and triglycerides improve, and levels of lipoprotein lipase, an enzyme that aids in the breakdown of fat in the bloodstream, improve – all of which can significantly impact overall health."
Research suggests getting 30 minutes of exercise along with 10,000 steps per day. During this step challenge I challenge you to increase your steps per day whether that is striving for the 10,000 steps or even more. Find someone else in the competition and try to keep up with them. I know Chris Gann sure is pushing me to do more!!
