Grizzly Family Update
June 13 - 17

Dear Families,
There were many great things happening at GPS this week.
It started with classes getting to spend a final day with Mohawk knowledge keepers, Mandy & Crystal. It has been wonderful to have repeated visits with them throughout the year. They have shared many teachings with us and helped us to better understand Haudenosaunee culture and ourselves.
Our courtyard has seen a dramatic transformation since the last time you saw it. A little (a lot of) elbow grease, some fresh paint, astroturf, umbrellas and seating. We have been loving the extra space for learning, working, socializing and relaxing. Thank you to the Kinsmen for their generous donation and to our school council for their ongoing support.
Many of our Track athletes returned to Invista for the DistrictTrack and Field meet on Wednesday! We have so much skill at GPS. A huge thank you to families for bringing students to and from the practice, for all of the staff who volunteered their time to coach and make the track outings possible, and to the students for learning, practicing, and giving it their all.
Thursday was Free Hot Dog day, and who doesn't love a free hot dog?....
The week ended with our Grade 8 students visiting LaSalle Secondary School on Friday. It was a great experience and helped get them even closer to graduating from GPS.
Our week ahead looks even fuller!....
We have been rehearsing and setting up for the Spring Concert Wednesday. We can't wait to showcase our talent and invite all of our family and friends. Tickets for the show that have been prebooked will be sent home on Monday. Please let us know if what you receive, doesn't match what you booked. We want to make sure everyone gets a chance to see the show!
If after booking you would like to add your name to the waiting list for additional tickets, you may add your name to the waitlist here.
The planning for our water fun day is underway! It will be an afternoon of water fun on Friday Please ensure students come with a towel, sunscreen, and a hat. Students are encouraged to wear appropriate water attire for this super-fun day!
Many classes have booked year end trips and permission forms will be coming home this week. School council will be covering the cost of bussing and other expenses (i.e., entrance fees) up to $20 per student. Thank you!!!
A friendly reminder to check your students for ticks and to apply sunscreen prior to coming to school as our school yard is very sunny!
Looking forward to a great week ahead!

Summer Autism Programs
Kindergarten Registration is now open
Welcome to Kindergarten at Glenburnie Public School This is an exciting time for both you and your student. Kindergarten is a two-year, full-day program that helps children get the best possible start in school. Your student will be challenged and encouraged to do their very best. Our caring team of educators is with them every step of the way!
Kindergarten programs in Ontario offer a full day of learning for four- and five-year-olds. At Glenburnie P.S., our Kindergarten program aims to nurture the whole child. In Kindergarten classrooms, a teacher and an early childhood educator work together as a team. This partnership helps to create a nurturing learning environment; giving every student the opportunity to learn in the way that is best suited to their individual strengths and needs.
If your student is four or five by the end of the year, now is the time to register for September 2022. your student here
You can feel confident your student will be cared for within safe and inclusive environments. We want everyone to see themselves in Limestone. We typically welcome new families to Kindergarten orientation events in May of each year. We will share more about these opportunities and when families can visit the school with their student soon.
Starting Kindergarten is an exciting time for everyone, and here at Glenburnie P.S. we are ready to welcome your student to a wonderful new world of learning and growing.
Thank you for choosing Glenburnie Public School. We look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Jean Paquin
