WW1 WEAPONS
Weapons of War
Description of " Weapons of War "
The weapons of war were the best " toys " to the soldiers for instance. Flamethrowers and Pistols were the best close range weapons. Machine guns and Bolt action rifles were the best long range weapons. Soldiers also needed war machines, so they used Tanks and Airplanes for war.

Tanks and Airplanes
In WW1 the soldiers had to have weapons to win. Two of the machines where a Fiat Tipo (a tank) and a airplane. The Fiat Tipo could fit 10 men at once while "Little Willie" could only hold 3! Also "Little Willie" had a top speed of 3mph while the Fiat Tipo had a top speed of 4mph. The Curtiss H-16 was in service in 1917. This plane was made in the Navel Aircraft Factory, USA. It could fit a crew of 4. It's maximum speed was 95mph! Length: 46.13ft
Width: 98.36ft
Height: 17.72ft
Machine Guns
" The machine gun, which so came to dominate and even to personify the battlefields of World War 1, was a fairly useful device when faraway warfare was introduced in 1914." Machine guns of all armies and all countries were largely of the " heavy variety " and were used in the war all over the world. " Despite advances in the machine gun, mortar, and grenade technology, all remained relativity unwieldy and useful in comparison to the rifle, which remained the most crucial, ever-present infantry weapon throughout World War 1." The bolt-action rifle had prestigious accuracy and range (if the person using it had a good shoulder)."
Flamethrowers and Pistols
Flamethrowers were used for the first time in WWI. They are guns that shoot fire everywhere. They have gas tanks on the back that are highly flammable. They don't kill people immediately, but lead to a painful and slow death.
Pistols are small guns. WW I soldiers carried them in holsters on their uniforms.
