Principal's Message

Spring Early College Academy Parents,

I am so excited to be taking on the role of principal at SECA. It was difficult to leave Wells MS as the principal, but for those of you that know me, know that my heart and efforts are with the Early College program. As Associate Principal with the program for 5+ years, I have had the opportunity and experience of working to help grow this program and now see it into the next phase of flourishing on the Lone Star -North Harris campus.

I look forward to reconnecting with those of you that I have had the pleasure of working with in the past and cannot wait to meet those of you new to the SECA campus over the past year and a half.

Sincerely,

KGuidry

CAFE Updates

The location of our new cafe space has been identified and work is beginning soon so that Child Nutrition is able to provide hot lunch to our students. Once we receive word on the expected completion date, I will share that information in an upcoming newsletter. We want to thank our SISD Child Nutrition Dept. and LSC-North Harris for working together to ensure that we have the space and equipment necessary to meet inspections and the nutritional needs of SECA students.

Tutorials

The purpose of SECA tutorials is to provide assistance to students who are struggling with content due to skill gaps observed by the teacher during instruction. Students are referred for tutorials every three weeks for a period of six weeks based on Progress reports (IPR). Using the Progress report as the measure allows us to support students prior to the end of the Mark Reporting Period (Report card) thus reducing the number of students with a failing grade on their report card. Students who earn a grade below seventy-five percent in a class are assigned to tutorial sessions. A college mark of C is a grade between 75-79 thus setting the threshold for a passing grade in a college class. Students must be successful in their high school classes before they can be enrolled in college courses. If you have any questions about tutorials please contact Diane Erwin.
