SIOP TRAINING SMORE #1
The Next Three Weeks - SIOP Training
What is SIOP?
Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol is a research-based and validated instructional model that has proven effective in addressing the needs of English learners. Research does show that when teachers use SIOP student learners' academic performance does improve.
SIOP: What to Expect Over The Course of Next Three Weeks:
Over the course of the next three weeks, I will be sending out a SMORE sharing various strategies we can use in our classrooms that are researched proven strategies for helping our ESL/LEP learners be more successful in our classroom and with overall academic performance.
I have and will try to make these as short, concise yet as informative, helpful, and useful as they can be. If you have any questions, Mrs. Penick, Mr. Gregory, Mrs. Miller, and Mr. Miller as well as myself are available to help you with implementation and/or any concerns you might have - don't hesitate to ask.
In order to gain your SIOP certificate required by law, you will need to choose some of the strategies to implement in your classroom, which our evaluators will be checking for as they make their walkthroughs for TTESS.
I will be keeping track of the analytics and turning them into the office to Mr. Gregory and this is what will be used to determine certification for the hours needed.
