Sheiko's 3rd Grade
Cloud Learning Newsletter- Week of 04/27/20
Our goal is to provide some updates and helpful tips.
Good News- Ms. Kleinstiver
Over the past few weeks, the students worked on researching animals in their reading and writing classes. As the culminating activity, the students were asked to create a project that taught others about the animal they were researching. The third-grade teachers were so impressed with the effort the students put forth on these projects. This was not an easy task to tackle virtually, but the third graders were up for the challenge and really showed their teachers what they were capable of creating. Many of the students chose to share their projects with their classmates on class Zoom meetings and it was an emotional moment for the teachers to witness. You should all be proud of your students...the teachers are for sure!
Social Studies with Mrs. Wilson
I am so excited to begin social studies this week! Students will be learning about the first People in Michigan. We will study the Three Fires Native American tribes followed by the Huron. Next week we will look at Native American Legends from Michigan and start to explore the French coming to Michigan. I can't wait to share this history of Michigan with you!
Friday Enrichment Day
If you would like an opportunity for your child to get in some extra academic practice, there will be a Google slide with enrichment activities made available to them on Fridays. This is optional but highly suggested. Also, if there are assignments or a day's work that was missed during the week you could use Friday as a make-up day.

Daily Expectations
The 3rd grade team would like to remind everyone that when possible it is a good idea to make sure to continue to practice math and reading.
- At least 30 minutes of reading a day.
- Math practice on Xtramath, Freckle, Prodigy, and/or Khan Academy Mappers.
- Writing- we highly recommend a journal that the children can write in daily or weekly.
Epic! for Reading
Epic! is the site we will be using for reading. Please make sure you have accepted your child's teacher's invitation to create an account for use at home. It is 100% free and they no longer require a credit card for the trial.
