LEARWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL
JANUARY NEWSLETTER
Welcome Back!
We will also have meetings with our 7th graders as they plan for their 8th grade course work. In addition to their core classes, students will also be choosing a World Language, and have options for their Essential classes (ex. PE: Team Sports vs. Wellness).
As a reminder, please be cautious when dropping off or picking up your child from school. Pay close attention to our crossing guards and follow their directions. If we have snowy conditions, make sure to leave home a few minutes earlier than you normally would.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nuggud

Innovation Space
Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering, art, and tinkering. A makerspace is not solely a science lab, woodshop, computer lab or art room, but it may contain elements found in all of these familiar spaces.
Over the next few months we will be creating workstations to include a 3D Printer, GlowForge, Video Recording Studio, and a few others. One of the stations we are looking to create is an Art and Jewelry station. We are looking for any donations you may have at home that would work at these stations (beads, markers, construction paper, tape, string, etc). We are also looking for cardboard boxes, especially the ones that Amazon uses. Their boxes work great with the GlowForge. If you have any donations, please drop them off at Learwood's main office, and let the office staff know that these materials are for the Innovation Space.
