The Village Bluebird
Special Edition April 2020
We hope you are safe and well during this unprecedented situation and that you are able to enjoy quality time with those closest to you.
Our teachers and leadership team continue to work hard behind the scenes to ensure that your children's distance learning plans are updated and engaging. We communicate daily to assess our work, fine tune as needed and plan for the days ahead. To further engage students, teachers share daily messages and use Google Classroom to post school related announcements or questions that students can reply to during scheduled meeting times. We will gradually and with careful thought, increase our use of other recorded messages and learning activities. Please give a round of applause to our amazing teachers and your children for making this experience the best it can be under the circumstances!
Your continued support, positive feedback and engagement is very much appreciated. We are grateful that you've shared your children's experiences along with photos for our slide shows! It helps us to stay connected and bring sunshine and smiles to one another while we're apart.
May our community remain strong until the halls of VES are again filled with life's energy, cheerful giggles and that enduring learning spirit!
Stay Informed and Engaged
Updates regarding the district closing, learning plans and other topics have been going out regularly since March 9th.
Please visit the VES website for links to the Distance Learning Plan, our Twitter feed and more. Please visit the school district website for links to all recent communications and alerts. You are also welcome to email us.
We take attendance each day. If your child is unable to participate in distance learning on any given day due to illness or anything else, please enter his/her absence in Genesis.
Distance Learning and Digital Citizenship Reminders
Please remember that you are your child’s digital citizenship coach and are responsible for monitoring students’ use of technology during this time of distance learning. While at home, the school safety filter is not in place and The Acceptable Use Policy remains in effect.
Students should remember to treat everyone with respect and kindness in person, on the phone and online and only engage in school related questions and discussions when using school resources during distance learning. Villagers are familiar with THINK as it was discussed in Mr. Dolan's technology class!
Parents can choose to utilize your own personal tools such as Facetime or Zoom to connect students. If you choose to do so, it is strongly recommended that any connections be monitored by parents.
Thank you for your support as we all work together to ensure a positive learning environment for our students while at home.
