Congratulations to the EDS Graduates of 2019! We hope to see you back in 2023 for our annual Eagle Flight! Best wishes to you on your high school academics, talent, and leadership!
BACK-TO-SCHOOL HACKS FOR HIGH SCHOOL!
- Download the school's calendar and write all of the relevant dates for the school year - you don't want to miss anything!
- Follow the school's Facebook page, which will provide you with frequent reminders of upcoming events as well as helpful back-to-school information.
- Add the school numbers in your cell phone so you will have them handy.
- Make the most of high school academics. Make flash cards that fit in your phone case! This way, if you find yourself with some extra time, you can just pull them out and study on the go.
- Be yourself! Personalize your pencils and pens and add some personality to your backpack - this could be a great conversation starter.
- Don't forget to fuel up before school to stay energized and focused. Make ahead protein waffles to take on the go, blend a fresh smoothie, or spread some cream cheese or avocado on some toast. Keep it simple if you're short on time, but don't forget to eat your breakfast!
- Save your locker combination in your phone. To keep it protected, create the locker combination as a contact or save it under your passwords.
- Pursue activities that truly interest you. Pick something that you find interesting and get involved. This will definitely help when completing those college applications. ;)
- Take care of yourself. Sleep enough, eat well and stay hydrated. It is recommended to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily.
- Don't forget to ask for advice. Ask for advice and listen to what other people have to say, and ultimately make the decision based on what is right for you.

The Projects
Middle School and High School Facilities
On the new South Campus, EDS plans to house grades 7th through 12th. This will free up classroom space on the North Campus, allowing the lower school to triple section each grade. This will increase enrollment that will filter up to the high school. The new facilities will also be designed to embrace 21st century learning and teaching. The new building will include:
- 6 core classrooms
- 2 STEAM labs
- 1 band instructional space
- 1 choral instructional space
Campus Life Center and Gymnasium
A full size competition gymnasium will eliminate the need to travel to other schools for practices and will advance the success of our athletic programs. The gym will house volleyball and basketball courts, two potential classrooms, and seating for students, parents, and guests. In addition to housing a gym, this facility will also serve as a gathering place for students, space for assemblies, chapel, food service, and performances that will enhance school spirit and a sense of community.
Benefits of the South Campus for My Family
Middle School and High School
- The newly designed facility will allow us to use the following learning modalities: independent study, distance learning, collaborative learning, project based learning, performance-based learning, inter-disciplinary learning, naturalist learning, art-based learning, design-based learning and social/emotional/spiritual learning.
- Grades on the South Campus will be 7th – 12th. The first year 7th, 8th and 9th will be on the campus. Each year an additional grade will be added through 12th.
- The transition from middle school to high school will be seamless.
- A full-size competition gym will eliminate the need to travel to other schools for practices and will advance the success of our athletic programs.
- Middle school students will have the opportunity to take and receive credit for additional high school level courses.
- Small class sizes will give students the opportunity to design individual coursework.
- Field study and environmental initiatives will continue to be a part of the natural culture of the school and curriculum.
Lower School
- By moving the middle school to the South Campus, lower school students will have a fully equipped science lab and technology lab to share.
- The Lower School will have room to expand enrollment without adding any additional classrooms on the North Campus.

Prayer for Students!
Lord, bless our students with the kind of study habits that help them do their best. Teach them how to manage their time and energy as good stewards of all You have given them. Show them how to develop their talents, to find the path You have set before them, and to be courageous and adventurous to try new things and learn new skills.
Place our students in the kind of classroom atmosphere that will both challenge them and encourage them, but still be conducive to their particular abilities. Show them the importance of learning, remembering that You are always with them, leading them as they acknowledge You daily. Eliminate the distractions in their lives that keep them from excellence. Give them persistence and the desire to follow through with each assignment. When things seem difficult, provide the help they need.
Help them to be excited about their studies, to be creative in their endeavors, and to remember Who and Whose they are at all times.
