ADVICE COLUMN

Dear pseudonym,

I have spent my whole year dreaming of being a farmer. Since all of my friends are farmers, and so are my neighbors. Then when I get a chance to become a farmer, and I tell my parents. They say “ It is a complete disgrace to society if our son was a farmer, no way”. How should I tell my parents that this is my dream, you can’t stop me from doing it. In a nice way that won’t offend them at all. My dad is the major problem, since my older brother became the general of the royal army and is doing so much good for the country that he expects the same for me. How should I break the news to him about me being farmer in a nice way?

- a farmer, hopefully

Dear a farmer, hopefully,

Since you have your sights at on being a farmer. I suggest that you wait until your mother is in a good mood then break the news to her. You should probably tell your mother the news first because from what I’ve heard she is easier to talk too and might tell your father the news and they will both accept it. Just in case they aren’t sure what to say about you being a farmer you could offer to train as a soldier in the summer. Good Luck

Sincerely Pseudonym,

HEAR WHAT THEY THINK

News just came in that among some of the merchants findings is a fruit that is not only delicious but nutritious. We talked with several of the merchants.

Reporter: So, today is a lovely day. Can you please explain to us some of the findings that you brought home to Egypt?

Merchant: Well, we found many things but the ones that stood out the most were Iron and Bananas.

Reporter: So, tell us more about iron and how you found it?

Merchants: Well we actually found iron when we were kind of attacked by the natives of the south. When we fought them we were surprised to see that their weapons could slice through our weapons like a hot knife through butter. When we explained that we only wanted to trade, they calmed down and taught us and showed us some of their tricks.

Reporter: Wow! what a story.

That was the short exchange between one of our reporters. As you can see the merchants have many stories to share.

A Girl Pharaoph

A girl pharaoh, wow what has the country gone too the birds. A girl pharaoh, some people are not going to be happy about this. Think about it what has Hatshepsut done!! Her brother disappeared strangely. On the other hand she is bringing bananas to Egypt. Bananas are a new exotic fruit that no one in Egypt has seen before. This a very controversial topic many schools are taking advantage of the position and are having debates all over Egypt. But that’s not all have you heard. In one way that is showing the people that she is worthy to be pharaoh and will do anything to be a pharaoh. But on the other hand that is just weird and very ugly and that is not how a queen( soon to be pharaoh) should look like. Stay tuned in for more.

Egypt Health

Be careful. A new disease called Polio has started in Egypt. If you are starting to feel very tired, feeling faint, or having a fever. Make sure that you do not have the Polio disease. If you do, or if you want to never get it, you can get a vaccine, if this doesn't help that much and you have the disease, bed rest and pain relievers may be able to help. Remember, stay safe!

Death of Tutmose II

ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO… WE LOST OUR GREAT PHARAOH, THUTMOSE II… NO ONE KNOW EXACTLY HOW HE DIED BUT NOW… A GIRL IS PHARAOH! HATSHEPSUT IS NOW NOT JUST A QUEEN, BUT THE PHARAOH OF EGYPT! MOST PEOPLE ARE VERY UPSET ABOUT A GIRL BEING RULER… BUT SOME THINK THE CHANGE IS GOOD! WHAT DO ALL OF YOU THINK????

Egypt Has Gone Bananas

Queen Hatshepsut has brought joy to many of the people this year. Last year Queen Hatshepsut sent the merchants on a huge trip down south, into enemy territory, to find new things and bring them back to Egypt. Contrary to popular belief the merchants returned safely and brought with them many treasures that we have never seen; “ Watching the merchants return with all of these new products amazes me” was the response of a local townsfolk when asked about his feeling towards the return. Seeing as the merchants only returned about a week ago it has been nearly impossible to find the merchants but there has been talk of their findings. Soon Egypt’s economy will soar, maybe appointing Hatshepsut to pharaoh status might not be a bad idea.

The Newest Chariots... Making Chariots Safer

A long time ago, in Ancient Mesopotamia, people have come up with an idea to create a tool for war. They called it the chariot. After many years, the Mesopotamians gave the idea of the chariot to the Egyptians. The Egyptians thought this idea was very good and princes started using this for entertainment. There are two types of chariots that the Egyptians knew: the War Chariot and the Carriage Chariot. For war, the best chariot would be the war chariot; if an Egyptian would use the carriage chariot it would be easy for the enemy to attack a single Egyptian and a single horse. The best chariot for entertainment was the carriage chariot because if there were a parade, it would be better for the pharaoh to be relaxed than be ready with his bow in position of war. Throughout many years, the chariot is still used by people. What an old tradition! These new and improved features and characteristics are helping us make chariots safer.

Pharaoh or Queen?

Is Queen Hatshepsut really in charge? The question has been circulating through the cities, but no matter what anybody answers it is never enough to satisfy. Queen Hatshepsut has been sitting on the throne for the past five years as regent until young Tutmose III is old enough to rule, but as time passes it seems that Hatshepsut is growing a little bit more powerful and lately she has been making decisions that would usually be made by pharaoh. These actions brings into question how strongly are the priests holding Hatshepsut in place. Now everybody is also wondering; does Hatshepsut know her rightful place as queen or does she believe herself pharaoh?
