What is an IEP? Individualized Educational Plan is a detail plan specifically tailored for your child's learning style that will promote/increase academic progress. Many resources/services that your child is eligible for and experienced educators will collaborate to determine the best method to delivery an effective education to your child
Who is included in the IEP process?
You, the parent/guardian
Your child(optional)
A general education teacher
A special education teacher
An educator who will interpret the results of the assessments
A school representatives
What's in the IEP?
Goals/Classroom Setting
Classroom Setting: Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)- It is important that your child experiences an effective education and is among his/her peers. Therefore, the IEP team will take into great consideration where your child will learn best.
Services/Accommodations and Modifications
If it is determined your child qualifies for services, such as: Speech, physical therapy and so. Further, how long and the duration of the services will be described.
Accommodations and Modifications-
This portions details changes that will be made in the curriculum and the assignments your child will complete in class. This includes all classwork, homework, tests, and assessments.
Your role in IEP
Your are your child's biggest advocate
If you are unable to attend the meeting(s), send someone you trust.
