What Will We Be Learning This Week?
Math
Students will continue their study of fractions next week. They will be adding and subtracting mixed numbers, reducing fractions, multiplying fractions by whole numbers and finding fractions of numbers. Accelerated Math continues to be due on Thursday afternoons.
Science
We will begin a Unit on the Phases of the Moon Next Week. We will discuss the moon’s orbit of the earth and the sun’s role in the moon’s appearance from earth. Students will be illustrating the eight phases of the moon.
Language Arts
We will not have a spelling list this week.
Social Studies
We will be researching Greek gods and heroes for a project that we will be completing over the next few weeks.
Odds & Ends
Science Center Field Trip
The fourth grade will be going on a field trip to the Science Center’s Planetarium on Friday, January 22nd. We will need 5 chaperones for each homeroom on this trip.
Chaperones will meet us at the Science Center that morning by 8:45a.m. and will need to pay an entrance fee of $6.00. We will be leaving the Science Center at approximately 11:15 a.m. to return to school. Chaperones will be needed until student buses depart.
If you are interested in attending this trip as a chaperone, please let us know by Friday, January 15th. On that day, we will draw names (if necessary) to determine who will chaperone the trip.
