It's Jacket Weather!
Please help your children dress appropriately for being outside during the various seasons. We recognize that students learn better when they have opportunities to go outside for recess. The decision to bring students inside because of unsafe weather will be made by the principal or assistant principal. The safety of our students will be the deciding factor in the event of inclement weather. Specific recommendations are given for poor air quality, lightning and cold temperatures.

Congratulations to our Whitney Running Club coaches and runners for a fantastic season!
A study from California found that students who missed more than 9 days of school in both kindergarten and first grade were much less likely to be proficient readers at the end of third grade. According to this study:
- 64% of kids with good attendance in kindergarten and first grade could read at grade level at the end of third grade.
- 43% of kids who missed 9 days in both kindergarten and first grade could read at grade level at the end of third grade.
- Only 17% of kids who missed 18 or more days of school in both kindergarten and first grade could read at grade level at the end of third grade.
