Out of District Boundary Exception Open Date for 2019/2020 School year opens on May 1st
Please start at your home school district office to fill out the proper paperwork, have it signed and return it to the Vancouver SD office, located at 2901 Falk Rd, Vancouver, WA 98661.
ALL students residing outside of the Vancouver Public School Boundary must submit this form annually.
If your boundary is not submitted by the last day of school, we will assume that you are not returning and your student will be withdrawn and his/her schedule erased.
Please mark these dates in your calendar and remember to get your paperwork turned in!
Did you know March is marijuana awareness month?
n Nearly 45% of high school seniors have used marijuana.
n Two-thirds of high school seniors do not view regular marijuana smoking as harmful.
n Teens who perceive that their parents are permissive about marijuana use are much more likely to use marijuana compared to teens who believe their parents would not be okay with it.
n There is no magic bullet for preventing teen drug use. However, research indicates that parents have a big influence on their teens, even when it does not show! So talk openly with your children and stay actively engaged in their lives

Dear Skyview Community:
Skyview is investing in our students by partnering with Microsoft Philanthropies TEALS Program to build and grow our Computer Science program. There are more than 500,000 open computer science positions without qualified talent to fill them across all industries. We are trying to help ensure our students at Skyview have access to the necessary education to ensure a successful future. One of our goals at Skyview is to offer a wide variety of Computer Science Courses that are open to all students.
Microsoft Philanthropies TEALS is a program that recruits, mentors, and places passionate technology professionals into high school classrooms as volunteer instructors. These volunteers bring subject matter expertise and will join a classroom teacher to teach computer science together. TEALS provides training for both parties, rigorous curricula, and opportunities for students to continue their education outside of the classroom.
Are you a computer science professional who wants to help develop the next generation of computer scientists? Come learn more about the Microsoft Philanthropies TEALS Program and how coding pros like you are changing lives as TEALS volunteers!
TEALS volunteers work directly with classroom teachers to help them build and grow their CS teaching capacity through yearlong support and training to inspire the next generation of innovators and computer scientists.
Skyview has the need for a volunteer to help teach the AP Computer Science A (Java) class, but there are other schools that need your help too, and not just with Java. If you’re interested in learning more about the opportunity to help shape students’ career opportunities – all while having fun – come learn how TEALS might be the right fit for you!
There is information on the next page about a Volunteer Info. Luncheon and how you can get more information about TEALS.
If you have any questions about TEALS or Computer Science Courses at Skyview, please contact Kim Hansen, khansen@vansd.org, 360-313-4200, x4268
