From the ART Room!
Over the past few days I have been recording walkthrough demos on the website that I use to teach the students how to make pixel art animations. I have uploaded these to my Canvas courses, but felt like it would be fitting to upload them to a YouTube page as well. (AS WE ALL KNOW, all the students are pros at navigating YouTube.) The channel is titled "Sevier Art" and has the JSMS logo in the avatar section. So, if you have students in your class that would enjoy learning how to use the pixel art software and/or to learn some basic animation/digital drawing techniques, then the link for the website is here:
and the link to the YouTube page (with a playlist of videos for them to follow is here):
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuCjhKgd_-kNih55NkNtv8A
I will be posting some walkthroughs for other assignments, assuming we're out for more than just a few weeks along the way. I'm doing my best to connect these assignments to art history, while also teaching them digital art skills. Maybe you or a student who doesn't have my class wants to learn? I've done my best to make them available. I have gone through on my end and approved the channel and videos through k12k.com so they should have access. If anything is awry when you try to access it, let me know!
From CHORUS
Hi everyone -
I would like to take a moment to let you know what online learning will look like for chorus class. While it is very sad to not get to rehearse together as a choir, I am working on some fun projects students can participate in after spring break - stay tuned! There will be three focus areas for online learning in chorus -
1. Singing! Students will have the opportunity to review and add on to repertoire we've been working on this semester so that whenever school resumes, we can pick up where we left off. Practice tracks will be available online in the 7th and 8th Grade Chorus Google Classroom.
2. Maintaining Basic Music Theory - there will be links for students to practice basic skills like note recognition, rhythm counting, and other skills we have learned in class. 8th grade students will learn a few new skills to prepare them for high school choir.
3. Creative Virtual Music Making - this is the "stay tuned" part. Choir directors across the country are putting their minds together to create some exciting virtual music experiences for students. I'm excited to share after spring break!
A note on field trips -
Currently, the trip to Middle School CPA is cancelled. The trip to Music in the Parks is on hold - please do not be concerned about sending in money or permission forms to the school at this time. The deadlines are flexible, so right now I am being flexible too and waiting to see what happens.
From the PE Department:
Parents please encourage your children to stay physically active during their time away from school. There are plenty of activities to do that can be done close to home. Going for a walk or jog, riding a bike, playing basketball, or even kicking a soccer ball can be good exercise. It is important to keep moving and make sure everyone is participating in cardio activities. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, doing jumping jacks, sit-ups or push-ups are always an option. Also, remember to drink plenty of water.
From Mrs. Potts: RTI
Hello RTI Students! I am working with your Language Arts teachers for your daily assignments.
READ READ READ!
Please spend 20-30 minutes daily on reading out loud. You can read to your younger/older siblings, a pet or a relative. Use your academic assignments and take time to read those out loud. Fluency is very important!
Hope to see you in a couple of weeks.

Math RTI
Math RTI Students,
I hope everyone is feeling well and ready to get back into the swing of things (sort of). We are going to do things somewhat similarly as we have done. The daily expectation is to complete your Fact Practice (Both Sets) daily on freckle.com. I will also be posting assignments on Google Classroom to work on daily or every other day either as a document, as a set of instructions as to what to work on using Freckle, or possibly a link to something.
Even though everyone is signed up through Freckle, the Google Classroom codes are below if you have not signed into my classroom. Please do that and make sure you can receive your instructions daily.
