Welcome back, Colt Families!
The new year has started off cold and snowy! We were so excited to see our students back this week! We've missed everyone. As the new year, and new semester starts, we want to continue to engage our families. We have a lot of fun and exciting evens coming up this semester:
- Basketball League and Little Dribbler's Clinic Game
- Exhibition Night #2
- Coffee and Dinner with the Principal
- Family Learning Nights
- Student Lead Family Conferences
We can't wait to see you again soo!
Here are some Positive Parenting Tips for January:
Remember to Have Fun!
Laughter is the glue that keeps families together, so try to find something fun or funny to share with children at least once a day. Ideas: try a knock-knock joke, watch a cartoon (appropriate for kids) together, find a funny video to share.
Have a Special Meal Together at Least Once a Week:
This doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive – how about a picnic lunch (or supper) on a blanket (or plastic tablecloth) on the living room floor? A fancy “dress-up” meal at the table by candlelight? Pick your pizza (toppings – you can buy prepared pizza crusts and sauce and let everyone make suggestions for toppings)? A backwards, upside down, crazy meal: dessert is first –upside down cake (of course!), then exotic foods like octopus steaks (really chicken), green spaghetti (really – it’s made with spinach), and far out fruit (how about trying a fresh pineapple, coconut, or mangoes) – the possibilities are endless and fun. . . and usually edible!
Take Time for Yourself
Plan for and set aside some time to take care of you! Whether that is asking a friend to watch the kids for a couple of hours so you can have a long, peaceful, (and most importantly) uninterrupted bath, going out with your partner or friends, or just taking time to do something you enjoy – you can’t meet children’s needs consistently if you don’t take care of yourself!
Have a Happy, Safe, and Warm January!!!
Dress Code
WWB is a dress code school. Students should be in dress code Monday through Thursday, unless they have a dress down pass. Friday is a dress down day! There are many benefits of a dress code in school:
- A dress code promotes a more serious school atmosphere which emphasizes academics and promotes good behavior.
- Dress codes have proven to increase student achievement by encouraging students to concentrate more on their studies and less on what they're wearing.
- Dress codes reduce social conflict and peer pressure that may be associated with appearance.
These are just a few benefits. We have relaxed the dress code since the dress code was first started. Below is a short list of our dress code:
- Any collared shirt (solid, stripes, design, etc.). As long as it has a collar, it is allowed.
- Khaki material pants--ANY color.
- Girls may wear uniform dress or jumper.
- No hoodies allowed!
- Leggings, jeggings, and tights can be worn under school uniform clothing.
- School t-shirts may be worn as a dress code shirt, but students must still wear the appropriate dress code pants, skirts, etc. on the bottom. Special Casual days will be scheduled throughout the year.
We also talk to our students about no matter what we do, there is a dress code. If you're a doctor or nurse at a hospital, you will see them in scrubs. If you are a judge, you will be in a robe. If you work at a restaurant, you may have a certain shirt or dress code attire to wear. Having a dress code is something that will last with our scholars for the rest of their lives.
Our staff will be enforcing dress code to keep consistency among students. If you need assistance with dress code clothing, please reach out to our Family Resource Coordinator, Ms. Walters or your child's teacher.
A Little Fun Before Winter Break!

Little Dribblers' Basketball Game!
The doors will open for families to enter the gym at 5:20. We will start games right at 5:30. Families will be required to wear masks and social distance on the marked off tape on the bleachers. Each child participating will receive a team shirt and certificate.
Come out and cheer on your basketball player!
WWB In-House Basketball League!
Each team's coach will be reaching out to each player regarding practices. Information will be going home with students who have signed up next week. Families, please make sure to drop your child off on time and pick up on time for each practice.
We will send home the basketball schedule home with all families soon. Please come out to support!
Send Us Your Team Schedules!
We LOVE to support our Colts both in and out of the classroom! If your student plays a sport, dances, etc., outside of school, please send us your child's schedule(s)! You never know who might pop up!😊
