Jarrell Elementary Newsletter - January 23, 2023
A message from the Principal!
Our students are continuing to enjoy this unusually warm January weather and as a result, our LOST and FOUND is multiplying daily! If your child is missing a jacket, hoodie, sweater, hat or gloves, please encourage them to stop by the Lost and Found and look for it.
Ask your 3rd - 5th grader about their interim Assessment Goals! As our Interim Assessment dates approach, students and teachers are working together to set academic goals and create plans to achieve them. Please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher for more ways to support these goals at home!
As always, we are here to help in whatever way your family may need. Please do not hesitate to reach out with your questions or suggestions.
With gratitude,
Lara Hutchinson

What an exciting week of learning we just completed, and this week is looking pretty good too! We have started our new unit in reading, and the focus is Ancient Roman Civilization! The kids seem to be enjoying the learning from this unit. In math we will be finishing our multiplication and division strategy units, and moving in area! This can be fun and challenging at the same time for the kids. We will be working on science this week. We will be looking at different ecosystems, and possibly looking at the life cycle of butterflies!
4th Grade
Fourth grade is looking forward to another fabulous week! In math, we are continuing our unit with fractions and in science we begin exploring soil. In writing, we continue writing our adventure stories. Treasure Island is still our focus in reading as we discuss character changes over time. Finally, in social studies students will be learning about important people from the Texas Revolution.

n math we are concluding our orders of operations unit and will complete our MOY data testing. In reading we will finish up unit 5, complete the unit post-test and introduce unit 6. Students have been working on using depth and complexity when creating open ended questions for their research topic and are moving on to the next stage. In the next stage, students will be researching the answers to the questions they created by using multiple resources.

Classes 2-5 are enjoying learning how to play the game of basketball. Running totals are increasing every week. I see some future basketball and track stars in Jarrell ISD's future.
