Mrs. Ali's Students Visit HSA Elementary School
This week Mrs. Ali and a few of her students took a field trip to the HSA Elementary School. Her class has been working on a unit project on the concept of matter. Students were expected to work with groups and create a “big book” project based on the concept they learned in class. Once they completed the project, two students were picked to share their projects to fourth graders at our sister school.
During their visit Mrs. Ali briefly explained the concept of matter and quickly engaged the students by connecting learning to the real world. The groups read their books to the class and shared their project presentations. After sharing their "big books" their projects were donated to the elementary. We donated a total of seven books that Mrs. Ali's students created. The students were excited to be part of this project and were very happy to see some of their former teachers. This was also a fun and exciting way to engage in learning and fun with one of our sister schools in the Concept network.
What a job well done for Mrs. Ali and her students!
CYSP Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is a holiday that brings friends, families, and even strangers together to hold great conversations over a hot meal. On Tuesday November 19th, we invited our CYSP students and their families to enjoy a holiday feast. With over 100 people in attendance it was a pleasure to host our students and their families as they spent time getting to know their child's mentors. Before enjoying a wonderful meal of turkey, vegetables, mac and cheese, and more parents and students teamed up and played different Kahoot games related to CYSP and Thanksgiving. We ended the night with a game of Doughnuts on a String in which students were instructed to eat a doughnut without allowing it to fall (sans hands). It was great to see parents, staff and students having fun and laughing together and we are excited for the events to come.
We would like to thank all CYSP advisers, administrators, and our CYSP coordinator Mr. Toprak for making this event a success! Want more photos? Click here
