Principal's Message
Parents and Community Stakeholders,
First, I would like to thank all of the parents and community for their overwhelming support during my first year as principal at Chimborazo. We have made significant progress in many areas. Collectively, we will continue to enhance areas where we are thriving and build and refine the areas that need additional support. We recently completed SOL testing for applicable grade levels with the exception of those who qualified to retake a respective test. As the year comes to a close, we will continue to educate your students until the last day of school. We will be having an awards ceremony and moving on ceremonies for our VPI and 5th grade students as they begin the next chapters in their academic endeavors. I am extremely proud of the work these grade levels, as well as the students in grades K-4 who have given maximum effort and exhibited our IB attitudes throughout the school year. We will be having summer school here at Chimborazo beginning Monday, June 26th to support those students who may need it and to prevent the “summer slide” in the areas of reading and math. If you have not submitted the paperwork for your child to attend, please do so immediately so that your child may attend. Thank you again for your continued support. The next newsletter will be sent in September before we begin the 2017-2018 school year.
Respectfully,
David T. Peck
Principal of the Mighty Chimborazo Jaguars

What can you do to support your child in exhibiting positive behavior?
- Review the Code of Behavior with your child.
- Ask your child about his/her day at school every day.
- Keep in touch with your child's teacher
- Encourage your child to use appropriate language and tone.
- Practice positive phrases with our child, such as, “Thank you,” “Excuse me,” “Please,” and “I’m sorry.”
- Be a visible part of your child’s school day. Attend PTA and school events.

Attendance matters
Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence. Also, as a subtle reminder, the school day starts at 9 a.m., so please do your best to ensure your child is not missing any instruction.
