Senior Portraits: Update
Virtual Student Pictures (Grades 9, 10, 11)
Virtual students (at PR, MA, and LMHS) will have the opportunity to have their pictures taken at the Murray Avenue School on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020. Families who would like to get their child’s picture taken can sign up for a time slot using this link by October 30, 2020. We encourage all families to have their child photographed for school recordkeeping and the yearbook. Families who would like to purchase pictures will pre-pay online. This information will be sent as we are closer to the date of this event.
We are also doing required health screenings on this day. Students will have their pictures taken and then enter into a private area to do height/weight checks, vision and hearing screenings. These are screenings completed during the school year by our school nurses.
Families should park in the Murray Avenue parking lots (back lot by the Upper Gym or the front lot) and enter from outside into the Upper Gym.

Certified Public Accountants Women's Conference
The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants hosted their annual Women’s Conference via Webcast. Mrs. Siciliano, who is a member of the organization, invited students to attend the webcast streamed “Live” in the High School Library. This conference provided a forum for financial professionals to provide positive messaging for our students for use in their personal and professional lives. Students who attended acquired valuable lessons on resilience in the workforce and overcoming obstacles professionally and personally. Topics included: Owning Your Career, The Myth of the Nice Girl: Leading with Kindness and Strength, Championing Workplace Diversity, and Resiliency, Women Leaders and Sales: Positioning Yourself to Make it Rain.
Student testimonials:
“I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge about my future business career path and listen to the stories of inspiring and successful women. What really stood out to me was how these women were able to overcome challenges such as diversity and work/life balance and being able to overcome those challenges by being resilient and optimistic.” C.M.
“Hearing the presenters speak inspired me to continue to discover and actively pursue my passions.”
E.B.
“A supportive and inspired community can transform conversations into shared action-- and that's exactly what the Women's Conference did. I left empowered to inspire action. Here. Now. On a local and global scale.” S.B.
“As a student who is often unsure of myself and my future, the Women's Leadership Conference enlightened me with insights into my journey throughout my career. I learned how to be a strong, valued woman in a work environment in many different circumstances and the impact of my own actions on my own future.” H.T.
“The Women’s Conference covered a multitude of topics regarding the challenges women face in the workplace and taught us strategies to overcome these setbacks. Moreover, we learned to stop instinctively apologizing, and how to overcome significant events in our lives by harnessing optimism, a fire that makes young women invincible.” J.Y.
Thank you to PICPA for affording our students the opportunity to promote growth in their personal and academics experiences. Thank you Mr. Engleman for hosting this event.

General News and Announcements
Updated Attendance Protocol
We are updating our procedures for daily attendance.
All of your attendance reporting needs for all learners (hybrid and virtual students) will be handled by one electronic form that will replace the Blue Card online form and the Yellow Card online form (used at Pine Road). This will also replace the need for a phone call to the attendance line.
Use this form to report your child’s absence. Submitting this form will both report the absence and document it. No follow up Blue card is needed.
Submit this form to inform us that your child has a change in his or her learning location (for example, will be learning from home instead of coming into school on a scheduled hybrid day).
Submit this form to sign your child into school late.
Submit this form to sign your child out for an appointment (early dismissal). This form allows you to enter a return to school time if your child will be returning to school.
Please Note:
If you are taking an extended vacation, you will still need to complete the Request for Excusal from Regular School Attendance, familiar to most families as a vacation request form. The form is found on the Virtual Backpack under Forms.
Doctors’ notes still need to be submitted to the school attendance secretary or sent into school.

Purple Thursday and Domestic Violence Awareness Month
They have had important reflection on what standards they have for their own current and future relationships and what respect looks like in relationships.
In addition, Mrs. Colleen Quinn-Maxwell continued this year to organize staff and students to participate on October 22nd in our annual support of Purple Thursday, supporting Nicole's Place of the Laurel House and victims and survivors of domestic and dating violence.
Together, we have already raised over $600 for victims and survivors at Nicole's Place just this year!
So grateful for everyone's support as we continue to help our community.
