Colorado Free Application Day - October 15

Students planning on applying to any of the 32 public colleges or universities in Colorado may want to participate in Colorado Free Application Day. This program waives application fees for students who apply to these colleges between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 a.m. on October 15, 2019.

Financial Aid Information

As you know, financial aid can be a big deciding factor for students. We don’t want them to miss an opportunity to receive as much aid as possible, which is why we’re reminding you the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available starting Oct. 1.

We recommend students complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after Oct. 1 to be considered for the most financial aid.

Pass along the important information below to all students you know will benefit!

FAFSA How To:

  • Create a FSA ID (separate for student and parent).

  • Fill out the FAFSA, available Oct. 1. Priority deadline is March 1.

Additionally, FAFSA forms can now be completed from mobile devices with the myStudentAid app (tips for using this app can be found here).

College Fair
A reminder that MOUNTAIN VISTA is the proud home of Greater Denver College Fair's BIG college fair on SATURDAY, October 5th from 10:00 a.m - 12:00 pm.

There will be over 225 colleges and universities from around Colorado and the country here in our gym and commons eager to talk to you and your student. I will be sending some common questions to ask college reps in the next week but wanted to remind you of this fantastic opportunity and encourage you to get it on your calendar as well as remind all of your friends, neighbors, and anyone you know that has a current high school student in the surrounding areas. The colleges are asking that students sign up for the fair through the website www.gotocollegefairs.com and print off your barcode so that colleges can scan it at their tables to get your information more quickly into their system. We are proud to announce there will be scholarships awarded at the fair for students that have registered for the fair as well as opportunities to apply for two other scholarships through this organization.

Attached to the bottom of this e-mail is the list of colleges as well as break out sessions on: Scholarships, Financial Aid, Private Schools, SCHOLARSHIPS SEARCH, and NCAA eligibility. Please note that colleges are still registering for this event. Also attached is a list of questions that students should look over before the fair to have some idea about what they would like to ask a rep from that school.
