reregistration
The deadline to complete your reregistration for 2022-2023 school year and receive the early reregistration discount is tomorrow, Friday, January 28th at 3pm.
To receive the discount, you must complete both steps:
- Pay the reregistration fee of $225 per student. For most families, this has been scheduled to be deducted from your FACTs account tomorrow.
- Submit the online application. A link was sent to you a couple weeks ago. Please use that email or the parent portal to access your information.
It is too late to stop payment of the reregistration fee. However, if you have any questions about the registration process, you may email Mrs. Brown at sbrown@stjosephwhschool.org.

cool weather and missing sweatshirts
Please remember that there are times that Mrs. Haas will determine students are able to wear our "Cold Weather Uniform." This is outlined in the Parent Student Handbook. When announced, students may wear khaki pants with SJCS uniform tops. Khaki pants cannot be cargo style pants and may not have holes/rips. Students in grades 3-8 must have pants with belt loops and must wear a belt.
Looking ahead at next week:
We know that Monday is going to be rather chilly. For Catholic Schools Week, it is SJCS Spirit Day. Students may wear SJCS apparel or colors. A SJCS (or blue) sweatshirt and jeans will be acceptable on Monday.
At this time, the forecast is also calling for a cool morning on Tuesday. If you don't have a pair of khaki pants for your child to wear, you may consider getting some over the weekend. These khaki pants DO NOT have to be purchased from the school. You may get them from Walmart, Target, etc. As we move forward through the potentially cool days in February, please ensure you have something within school guidelines for cool days.
And, remember, Mrs. Haas will announce when khaki pants are acceptable.
We have lots of SJCS sweatshirts and hoodies in lost and found. If your child is missing his/hers, you certainly may stop by the school office and check lost and found.

Family Catholic Trivia Night
We are excited to host our first ever Family Catholic Trivia Night on Wednesday, February 2nd in the Parish Center! Bring your family and answer questions about and learn about our Catholic faith. field trips and fingerprints
We are approaching the time of year when many of our classes enjoy field trips. Please keep in mind that all chaperones must be fingerprint cleared through the Diocese of Orlando. If you plan to join your child on his/her field trip, please be proactive and ensure that your prints haven't expired. You can email Mrs. Roberts at sroberts@ stjosephwhschool.org if you would like confirmation that you are cleared.
Alumni Games
All SJCS Alumni are invited to join us in our gym for an Alumni Basketball Game on Tuesday, February 1, at 6pm. This is typically an event for our high school students to come back, celebrate Catholic Schools Week with us, and catch up with friends from SJCS. This is open to all alumni, not just those students who played basketball when they were at SJCS. If you are interested in attending, please email Coach Edwards at

plastic bags needed
Please start saving plastic grocery bags, the ones you receive from stores such as Publix and Walmart. We will need these plastic bags for a schoolwide service project during Catholic Schools Week. You may start sending them in with your child(ren) asap. We will need thousands of bags, so everyone's help would be greatly appreciated.
Volunteers Needed
Thank you to Mrs. Swingle who has volunteered to chair the Mother Son Bowling event. We are still looking for a chairperson for our Daddy Daughter Dance. If you are interested in leading the coordination of this event, please email Mrs. Haas at thaas@stjosephwhschool.org.
Family Movie Night
We hope you are making plans to join us for Family Movie Night on Friday, February 4 at 6:30pm on our soccer field. We will be showing the movie, Luca. Everyone is welcome.

grandparents day - rescheduled
Please mark your calendars. Grandparents Day will be Friday, April 29th. It is our intent to invite grandparents to join us on campus that day.
Tardies
Your student's prompt arrival at school is critical to their academic success and the efficiency of our school. I direct you to page 6 of our Parent Student Handbook (which can be found on our website), if you should have any questions.
According to our Parent Student Handbook, "Students are tardy if they are not in their classroom by 8am daily. To allow students time to walk to the classroom, they must have exited their vehicle by 7:57am daily. Teachers in morning carline will redirect parents to the school office to sign their child in tardy beginning at 7:57am."

We kick off Catholic Schools Week at all parish Masses this weekend! Students are strongly encouraged to attend Mass at St. Joseph Church in their Mass uniforms. Following Mass, students should see Mrs. Haas and receive a dress down pass.
now accepting new students
Our best marketing tool at St. Joseph Catholic School is word of mouth. If you have a friend or family member that may be interested in a Catholic education for their child, we encourage you to let them know about St. Joseph Catholic School. We are beginning to accept new student applications on Monday, January 31st. Mrs. Haas is scheduling tours of our school daily. Additionally, we are offering an Open House this Sunday, January 30th from 10am until 11am. Please spread the word.
McDonald's Night
Join us for SJCS Spirit Night at McDonald's on Hwy 17 this Tuesday, February 1st between 5pm and 8pm. Join many of your SJCS friends, teachers and staff for dinner at McDonalds. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to St. Joseph Catholic School.

SJCS will dismiss at 2pm on Friday, February 4. Aftercare will be provided until 6pm.
First Day of School 2022
Our first day of school for the 2022-2023 school year is WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10.
4th Grade Service Project
The students visited Catholic Charities today as part of their Saints service project. The students packaged food, a bookmark of the saint they researched, and a tag that read “For the nourishment of your soul and body” for people in need. Martha Murphy, Catholic Charities director, spoke to the students about the importance food donations and the Bibles to help those in need. When the students wrote reflections about the experience, one said her favorite part of the project was donating the packages. Another student felt joy in helping others feel happy with our donations. This project would not have been possible without the donation of 100 bibles from the Knights of Columbus and we appreciate the support!
