Proclamation Line
The Proclamation of 1763
What it is?
The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was issued October 7 by King George III. After Great Britain's purchase of French territory in North America after the end of the French and Indian War/Seven Years' War, which forbade all settlement past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains.
How it effected the Colonists
Because westward expansion was taken away from the colonists when the Proclamation Line was put into effect the colonists started to resent the king because it was as if he took a prize from them, and pinned them on the antlantic seaboard. This is another reason why pressure was buillding up between Great Britain and the Colonists
