Centerview families,
The construction is complete on the south of Centerview Elementary. The road that connects Davenport with Centerview Elementary and the National Sports Center (NSC) is open. We will begin a new process for drop up and pick up tomorrow (Thursday) morning to increase the safety and efficiency for both our school and the National Sports Center.
Beginning Thursday (tomorrow) morning, here’s what you can expect:
- Access to Centerview Elementary and the NSC for drop-off and pick-up will transition west of Davenport and from south of 105th.
- Each access point will require families dropping off and picking up to proceed as we have and line-up south of 105th in an ordinally fashion along the curb. Pick-up numbers will continue to be identified as you arrive.
- South of 105th and north of the NSC Super Rink will be double lane (See Map Below) each afternoon. This will decrease the congestion for Centerview families lining up in a single lane in front of the NSC super Rink.
- Families picking up at the end of the day (3:55 p.m.) will proceed accordingly, with the direction of Centerview staff and merge into one lane for pick-up and drop-off.
- This will require patience, and we expect there will be questions as we move toward a process that creates a safe, respectful and efficient drop-off and pick-up.
Please ASK if you have questions and know that we want this process to go as smoothly as possible. Staff will be present support and provide assurance for safe arrival and departure.
Please remember MASKS are required each day at Centerview. Students need to bring a mask each day and are asked to have a back-up mask in their backpack. While we have extra masks in the office, they are limited. We appreciate your efforts to make this happen.
If you are interested in supporting students and our schools by becoming a sub, we’d welcome you! The labor shortage happening across industries is impacting school specifically through a shortage of substitute teachers. You just need a college degree and we help with the rest. Find out more about becoming a substitute.
We’re a week away from our Thanksgiving break. As a reminder, there is no school Wednesday, November 24 through Friday, November 26. We return from break on Monday, November 29.
Finally, it is American Education Week. We had a fun morning on Tuesday as our Centerview staff gathered with district leaders and school board members to recognize and appreciate our staff. Our collective effort in supporting students and their families through the successes and the challenges of another year navigating COVID-19 makes me proud as a principal. We have a lot to learn as a result and will grow from our experience and continue to partner with you. We appreciate you!
Take care,
Mike
