what causes the disease?
The disease is caused by a fungus that blocks the water conducting tissue, and is spread by two species of bark beetles. The bark beetles feed and breed. Over winter the wood of both bark beetles lived and killed eml's diseases. If you see this happening on your trees contact a County Extension Office.
The bark beetle's feed on the wood and multiply.
The Dutch Elms disease can be in front yards, back yards, and even out in the woods.
Why is it a problem
It kills a lot of trees die really quickly and it is really hard to stop it causes problems for the environment.
