OPE Library
Newsletter for Faculty and Staff
August 2013
Welcome to the Library!
Students are beginning their media rotations this week. We will begin the year with library orientations for each class. Orientations will cover topics such as book care, how to find a book, and library policies and procedures. Students will begin checking out this week in their resource classes. Once everyone has completed their orientations on September 9, students will be allowed to visit the library during the instructional day with teacher permission. Since we have so many students, we ask that no more than 2 students from each class be released to go to the library at a time. Students will be allowed to visit the library during morning arrival once the news show is up and running, and I will let everyone know when we are ready for that.
Teachers and staff are welcome to use the library at any time; however, if no one is there to check you out, we ask that you leave your books on the desk with a note stating your name. I know many of you send newsletters to parents. If you add me to your mailing list, I will be able to keep up with what you are studying in the classroom and sometimes tie my lessons into the standards you are covering. It will also help me become aware of what books you and your students may need and fill in holes in our collection. If you have any requests for books you'd like the library to purchase, please let me know. I can't promise that I will order them, but I will definitely add them to the considerations list.
A few reminders:
-Books are on loan for one media rotation. If a student checks out a book on A Day, he or she must return them on the next A Day.
-Books can be renewed one time unless they are Children's Book Award or Sunshine State titles.
-Students must return their books if they want to check out new books.
Thank You!
I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone for understanding the need to delay media resource classes for one rotation. I know how difficult and tiresome the first few days of school can be, but thanks to your patience we have all of the books back on the shelves and are ready for students to start their orientations. Please let me know how I can help you and your students this year.
