Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s new 30-classroom

building is on track for completion this summer.

With the MSD campus unoccupied over the past few months due to the coronavirus pandemic, construction has maintained a productive pace, ensuring the new addition will be ready for students and teachers when they return to campus for the 2020/21 school year.

Building Description: $18 million cost, 44,480 sq feet, 2 floors, 30 classrooms, and 3 faculty rooms. Features include: energy efficient led lights, water efficient plumbing, heat reductive roofing system, hurricane impact resistant windows, and motion sensor classroom lighting.

Crews on site have made consistent progress since breaking ground in August 2019, and the project is on schedule to be completed in July 2020.

Once the building is ready for final inspection, only punch list work involving placement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) and other minor amenities will remain.

From foundation to rooftop, building a new campus addition is a process that involves careful planning, phased timelines, and consistent hard work. Click the video above to see what that process has looked like at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
