Happy Spring!
I hope your child's 4th nine weeks is off to a great start! As we wrap up the semester, I am ready and willing to help you and your child in any way that I can. Please do not hesitate to contact me. I have included my contact information at the bottom of this newsletter.

- January: CCMR lessons about goal setting and college/career/military awareness. In 5th grade, we explored on campustours.com.

- February/March: Kindness/getting along with others (K-2nd); Test Strategies/anti-test anxiety book (3-4); avoiding rumors (5th)

Fall Semester:
- August 29-September 9: Introduction to the Role of the School Counselor
- September 12-September 23: Zones of Regulation - Emotions & Coping Skills
- September 26-October 7: Conflict Resolution/Problem-Solving Skills with Kelso's Choices (see wheel below)
- October 12-21: Bully Prevention - 3 Rs: "Recognize, Refuse, Report" and being an UPstander
- October 24-November 4: Healthy Choices/Red Ribbon Week Lessons
- November 7-November 18:
1st Grade: tattling versus reporting with A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue
2nd Grade: anger management with Everyone Feels Angry Sometimes
3rd Grade: anger management with Everyone Feels Angry Sometimes
4th Grade: digital citizenship with Cell Phoney
5th Grade: respectful friendships and communication with Trouble Talk
- November 28-December 9:
1st Grade: sportsmanship with Winners Don't Whine and Whinners Don't Win!
2nd Grade: teamwork and sharing with Teamwork Isn't My Thing and I Don't Like to Share
3rd Grade: self-concept with Is There an App for That?
4th Grade: teasing that crosses the line with Just Kidding

Topics to talk about with your child to promote awareness about his or her future:

The mission of the school counseling program at McCall Elementary is to advocate and build relationships with all students and support social/emotional, academic, and college/career readiness development through the implementation of a data driven comprehensive counseling program.
