Political differences between the Liberals and the consolidation of the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz
During the first half of the nineteenth century there were several conflicts between liberals and conservatives. With the triumph of the Republic in 1867, Juarez was reelected for a period of four years. Loured de Tejada was president from 1872 to 1876 during his tenure he faced the Church because he apply rigidly the Reform Laws.
In 1884, General Diaz returned to the presidency. The actions allowed undertook to strengthen its power and maintain stability. In the following years, Diaz was reelected five consecutive times.His government became a dictatorship because I eliminate political freedoms , censoring the press , repressed social protests , stop will be held free elections and imposed governors of the states also , justice institutions and the legislature his orders . This stage in the history of Mexico is known as the Porfiriato .
