February 2024 Newsletter
Principal's Letter
Dear Greenbriar Community,
I hope this message finds you well as we embrace the month of February. It's been an exciting journey so far, and I am thrilled to share some highlights and important updates with you.
Our students continue to shine brightly in various aspects of their academic pursuits. Many students have come to me to “show off” their outstanding Winter MAP scores. The students are so excited for attaining their own goals in ELA and MATH MAP. This type of dedication will definitely pay off for them when they take their OST.
From captivating art projects in our lobby to impressive achievements in sports and academics, it's heartening to witness the growth and dedication our students demonstrate each day. Let's take a moment to celebrate their successes and encourage them to reach even greater heights. Thank you to our parents and our teachers for their outstanding dedication.

The Werman Twins are Doubley Awesome!
Awesomeness x 2 = Emily and Grady Werman! These twins show up every day, bringing their best versions of themselves. Respectful? Of course! They give every adult their undivided attention, and any peers the kindness and patience they deserve. Responsible? You bet! Emily and Grady thoughtfully accept and complete any challenge given to them. Ready to Learn? They were born ready...and determined! All this double awesomeness is exactly why they represent the STEM 5 family as our January students of the month.

STEM 5 Designs Pressurized Astronauts Suits!
STEM 5 learners engaged in design thinking to build space suits that will protect astronauts from the dangers of space travel that a vacuum environment creates. How did they test such a dangerous mission? They used marshmallows to simulate human astronauts, of course! Learners observed how their marshmallows survived a vacuum chamber. Many marshmallow astronauts were relieved that their engineers built multiple layers to protect them.

In English, we are reading a thought-provoking story called "Flowers for Algernon". It is a science fiction tale about a man who undergoes a surgery to triple his intelligence. It has led to outstanding writing and discussing opportunities.
In math, students are learning the Pythagorean Theorem.
Evolution is the topic of study in science and next is reproduction.
