Getting Ready for the Job Search
It is that time of year! If you are a graduating senior, right now is a good time to start thinking about ramping up your job search. An effective job search isn’t just sending out as many resumes as you can to as many jobs as you can find. Networking, informational interviews, research, analyzing job descriptions and customizing your resume and cover letter all can increase your odds of finding the position best suited to your skills and needs. Visit Career Design for tons of resources including Canvas Modules, weekly Coaching Labs and Daily Drop in times to learn how to optimize your search!

When: M-Th, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. No appointment needed!
When you arrive:
- Check-in at the front desk in Stearns Center. You will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis, and meetings are up to 15 minutes. The last student will be seen at 11:45am to ensure enough time for questions to be answered.
- Make sure you are in compliance with the Northeastern University COVID-19 testing protocols and policies. If you do not meet all of those criteria, please do not enter the building: join us virtually or make an appointment for another day when you are in compliance.

Are you looking to have an impact on the student experience at Northeastern, learn new professional skills, and become part of a community of students developing innovative strategies for student engagement? Do you have great interpersonal skills and enjoy helping others? Employer Engagement and Career Design (EECD) and Student Success Initiative (SSI) seek students to serve in a hybrid leadership role as a Career Ambassador and Student Success Guide.
The Career Ambassador and Student Success Guide position is a part-time student employment role (8-10 hours/week) and hired students will receive extensive training necessary to do the job. The pay for this position is $15/hour and is open to both domestic and international students.

This podcast episode, hosted by Roxane Gay and Tressie McMillan Cottom, features guest speakers Sabrina Strings and Sonya Renee Taylor. "Sabrina Strings on the racist historical roots of fat phobia and what it means for health care today. Plus Sonya Renee Taylor coaches Roxane and Tressie on how to accept their bodies, and why self-love is a contagious political act."
The episode addresses everything from how BMI has been used to discipline and control black bodies for the benefit of white people and capitalism to the commercialization of self-care and how radical self-love must instead be used to dismantle the patriarchy.

Meet the Career Design Staff!
Meet Diana Ghattas-Antony!
Diana (she/her) is a proud Northeastern alumna and completed her B.A. in Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Boston and a M.Ed. in Higher Education at Northeastern University. She is currently one of the Assistant Directors in Career Design and enjoys delivering innovative interdisciplinary programs and liaising with the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. Her career path included teaching, school counseling, and government work. She found that career coaching aligned best with her desire to empower learners of all backgrounds through the process of lifelong learning. Outside of work, she enjoys volunteering in her community, event planning, arts and crafts, biking, reading, cooking, baking, interior decorating, and spending time with her husband and three children.
Diana's best career advice is work on your goals, venture outside of your comfort zone, and think of yourself as a lifelong learner.

You can use Big Interview to practice interviewing online using your webcam. This tool allows you to practice various types of questions, including general, behavioral, and technical ones.
The “Answer Builder” tool inside Big Interview will help you mine the depths of your memory to find the right stories to tell. Finally, you can record your answers and ask a career counselor to provide you with feedback!
