Cedar Hill Football To Visit DeSoto in Battle of Belt Line Game
One of the best football rivalries in the State of Texas takes center stage as the Cedar Hill Longhorns visit the DeSoto Eagles in the Battle of Belt Line. Both teams are 4-2 overall, but they’ve taken different routes into the seventh game of the season.
Cedar Hill has won three consecutive games since a 1-2 start, and the Longhorns are now tied with Duncanville atop the District 6A-11 Standings at 3-0. DeSoto has won its last two games after a 42-21 loss to Duncanville in its 6A-11 Opener on September 17. The Eagles are tied for third place in 6A-11 with Mansfield and Waxahachie.
DeSoto’s only other loss was in the season opener on August 27 at Converse Judson (35-28) near San Antonio.
Last Friday, Cedar Hill won a 14-10 thriller over Waxahachie on Homecoming. The Longhorns trailed 10-0 in the second half but scored the winning touchdown on junior quarterback Cedric Harden Jr’s quarterback keeper with 1:15 left in the game. It was his 17th touchdown of the season (13th rushing touchdown). Harden finished the game with 211 yards (122 passing, 89 rushing).
Junior Jairrus Nicholson caught two passes for a career-high 83 yards, including a reception that set up the game-winning score.
The last time the Longhorns won such a low-scoring game was a 10-7 triumph over Mansfield in 2018. Friday marked the third time this season the Longhorns held an opponent below 21 points (all during the current three-game winning streak).
DeSoto defeated Waco, 72-6 last Friday with 453 yards of offense in the victory. Eagles senior quarterback Matt Allen completed 10 of 11 passes for 230 yards and four touchdowns.
